We begin by simulating the well-described responses of MT neurons to random dot motion, and we model LIP responses as a simple time-integral of the difference from opposing pools of MT neurons. We simulate two ensembles of LIP neurons, one for each of the possible eye movement responses. The decision is made when the activity of one of the LIP ensembles exceeds a critical value, that is, when the evidence reaches a threshold.
